Charles M. Lawrence begins the concrete business in Clarion, Pennsylvania. The Lawrence family owned and operated the business until it was sold in 1984.

Charles Lawrence is Braun Gourley’s (current owner) great grandfather.

After returning home to Brookville, Pennsylvania from U.S. Navy service in 1945, John (Jack) Orgorchock took his first entrepreneurial step. In 1946, he purchased a dump truck and launched J.H. Orgorchock Trucking, hauling coal, lumber, and other materials vital to the region.

After graduating from Duquesne, Jack expanded the business into Brookville Building Supply and ready-mix concrete. Starting with a small concrete plant and three trucks, the operation began to take shape. As the post–World War II housing boom swept the United States, Jack also entered the home-building business.

By 1952, Jack Orgorchock continued the company’s growth with an expansion into DuBois, including a new concrete plant, four trucks, and a building supply store on Hoover Avenue.

The company adopted the name DuBrook, reflecting its roots in both Brookville and DuBois.

Recognizing the opportunity in the Butler area, DuBrook established a new plant on North Main Street. The company later acquired John Tack & Sons on Bantam Avenue—where the Butler plant remains today.

In the early 1970s, DuBrook expanded by acquiring Kolhepp’s ready-mix operation and relocating the DuBois plant to Parkway Drive, strengthening its regional presence.

Additional Note: A Broader National Footprint – In the mid-1970s, Jack and his sons attended a convention in Houston, Texas, where they were inspired by the region’s building boom. In 1976, operations began in Spring, Texas, eventually expanding to three locations and a fleet of 56 trucks.

In the 1970s, Paul Glenn acquired the Brookville location, continuing its legacy.

With the sale of the Clarion business by the Lawrence family, the Glenn family expanded operations and now operate both the Brookville and Clarion locations.

DuBrook’s Pennsylvania operations remained strong, continuing to serve the region even as challenges arose elsewhere. Following a significant downturn in the Texas market, the difficult decision was made to close the Spring, Texas operation in 1985. Seeking new opportunities, company assets were relocated, and by 1987, DuBrook Concrete was operating in Chantilly, Virginia. That location grew into a two-alley plant with more than 30 trucks.

In 1993, Jack decides to semi-retire where three of his children take over the operations throughout the region. The following year, 1994, DuBrook purchases Thomson & Montgomery Ready Mix in St. Marys, PA.

Additional Note: In 1993, DuBrook launched a new division—Concrete Precast Systems—after acquiring a patent for absorptive sound walls. Operations were established in Chesapeake, Virginia, and later expanded to Chantilly, Virginia.

Founded in 2003 by Mike Hindman and Braun Gourley, M and B Services began as a small residential concrete company with just a handful of employees. Starting with a single dump truck, the company grew into a full-service, year-round concrete construction business, providing services across residential, commercial, and government sectors—including federal, state, and municipal projects—as well as private organizations.

Rosemary Ogorchock Barber remains operating the DuBrook locations in DuBois, St. Marys, Butler and Evans City.

Additional Note: The siblings divided operations among themselves. Paul Ogorchock assumed control of the Chesapeake operations of Concrete Precast Systems, Inc., later transitioning the business into Coastal Precast Systems, Inc. as it expanded into prestressed beams. Tom Ogorchock remained in Chantilly, Virginia, overseeing DuBrook Concrete, Inc.’s ready-mix operation, which he later sold to U.S. Concrete.

Sadly, Jack passed away on March 17, 2012, at the age of 87, marking the loss of the visionary behind the business.

The M and B Group purchases Glenn Redi-Mix in April of 2014.

M and B Group acquired DuBrook Inc., retaining the DuBrook name for its concrete plants. This acquisition geographically connects DuBrook’s plants in DuBois, St. Mary’s, Butler, and Evans City with M and B’s plants in Clarion and Brookville.

Mike Hindman stated, “We plan to operate under the DuBrook name with the same personnel.”

Braun Gourley added, “This acquisition will give us a very large coverage area and will allow us to serve the needs of our customers throughout that region. Our goal is to provide high-quality products and dependable service to all of our customers.”

He continued, “When we started looking into the history of both M and B and DuBrook, it was amazing to see the similarities. This deal was meant to be.”

Mike Hindman shared the memories of driving past DuBrook on the way to his grandmother’s house, “I can remember looking at all the trucks lined up out front and how neat it was. I am blessed to be a part of it. I really want to thank Rosemary for welcoming the M and B family into the DuBrook family. She is a wonderful person, with a long family history of hard work. We look forward to keeping the DuBrook legacy strong for many years to come,” Hindman said.

The business expanded into the Bradford area with the acquisition of the Bissett Building Center.

The business expanded into the Meadville area through the acquisition of Meadville Redi-Mix Concrete, Inc.
